Between studying for next week’s podcast on contentment in relationships and celebrating deep friendship this week for my birthday, God has revived in me an old prayer in a new way. I pray almost daily for God to help me love Him and love others. God has deepened this prayer even more for me this week. My new prayer is, “Infuse me with you. Diffuse me for others.” The technical definition of infusion is introducing a solution into something slowly. It’s like a slow drip into our veins until the whole body is full. Oh, may my relationship with God be the same- a slow, daily process of Him filling me from the outside, in. And, as I’m infused with His presence, the next logical step is that He will diffuse out of me for the sake of others. The act of diffusion means to spread out over a large area. Oh Lord, let it be so. May He ooze out of me to the point where His love spreads to others over a large area for His glory and their good.
“Lord make me an instrument of your peace
Where there is hatred let me sow love
Where there is injury, pardon
Where there is doubt, faith
Where there is despair, hope
Where there is darkness, light
And where there is sadness, joy” Prayer of St. Francis
